What is NeiWorld.com All About?

NeiWorld.com (Neighbor World) is a 10% time project by OBS Labs - Ruby on Rails Development company.
It was inspired by idea what we are underestimating a simple efforts we could do to help people around us.
Think of it as of extremely local version of craigslist or ebay.
 
Most of us have a lot of stuff that we are just using from time to time. For instance i have

At Home:

• Fryer for French fries that I never used
• Vacuum Cleaner that i use just once a week
• Wireless Computer Mouse that i never used
• Fast Unlimited WiFi connection that I use just couple hours a day
• Salt, pepper, spices, eggs.. I am usually well equipped with all kinds of food and ready to share
• Tools, screwdrivers, etc..
• Phone for local calls
• Books, Movies, Music
  

At Work:

• Unlimited WiFi that i can share
• 2-3 old computers that are still good for typical office work
• 2 Fans
• WiFi router
• Water Cooler that i can share
• Work space for 1-2 quite people

And this is just shortlist on top of my head, but in fact I have much more if someone around will need something specifically. Of course I am not going to do renting business out of it, make garage sales of things that i still might need or borrow expensive things to people I hardly know. But I don't mind to borrow, rent or even give out for free some stuff to local buddies that live around or work at the same building.

This will be my way to help others around me, save money and maybe even earn some pocket money, kudos and new friends around!

Just follow what is needed around you and shoot your personal needs to the local stream! We are planning lots of new features and integration with all major social networks!

If we will gather enough traction we are going to open source this site and ask developers to volunteer their time developing additional features and services. If you are willing to contribute some RoR coding please let us know - we will need your help very soon.
